意思決定の良否は、目的を達成する効率だけでなく、目的自体の倫理的な良否が問われます。また、自らがもつ情報の限界を考慮することも重要です。情報の限界はイノベーションの可能性とリスクの原因になります。そして他者への配慮においても、理解していない心理や事情がありうると考えることは重要です。
The quality of decision making is judged not only by how efficiently a goal is achieved, but also by the ethical soundness of the goal itself. It is also important to take into account the limits of the information one possesses. These limits can be both a source of innovation and a cause of risk. Likewise, when considering others, it is important to recognize that there may be psychological factors or circumstances that one does not fully understand.
授業の目的（意義） / Importance of this course
ビジネスを含むさまざまな場面で、質の高い意思決定をするために有効な考え方と手法を身に付けてもらうことを目的にします。意思決定の質は次の３つの要素に大きく影響されます。すなわち、目的の適切さ、選択する行動が目的を満たす程度、自分が持つ情報の限界を考慮することです。この科目ではケースを用いて、自分が当事者ならばどのような決定をするか、その理由は何かを議論し、質の高い意思決定をするための考え方と手法を身に付けてもらいます。
The goal of this course is to help you acquire perspectives and methods for making high-quality decisions. The quality of decision making is largely influenced by three factors: the appropriateness of the goal, the extent to which the chosen action fulfills the goal, and considering the limitations of the information you possess. In this course, we will use cases to discuss what decisions you would make if you were involved, and the reasons behind them. This will help you develop the perspectives and methods necessary for making high-quality decisions.

学生が意思決定の質を自らチェックできるような知識と批判的態度を身に付けることが目標です。具体的な能力としては、合理的な意思決定とその限界を考慮すること、意思決定の質をチェックするポイント、決定の根拠を他者に説明する手法などです。
The goal is for students to acquire the skills and critical attitude necessary to evaluate the quality of your own decision making. Specific skills include rational decision making and understanding its limitations, identifying key points to check the quality of decisions, and skills for explaining the rationale behind your decisions to others.

授業の前にケースを読んで、事前に配布される設問への回答を準備してきて下さい。できれば設問への回答だけでなく、ケースに関連して重要と思われる問題点を見つけて授業での議論に備えてください。授業の準備には、1日の授業につき6～8時間が必要になります。
設問のうちいくつかは、回答をレポートとして授業前にGoogle Classroomで提出してもらいます。レポートへのフィードバックは授業後に行います。レポートは質が重要で、必ずしも多くのページ数を要求しません。Power Point は不可です。

- Active participation and shared learning is at the core of the case method learning.Participants are asked to limit their use of electronic devices (e.g., laptops, smartphones) during classroom sessions in support of this model. Ph.D.(Public Policy, University of Chicago) 。京都大学法学部を卒業後、日本郵船株式会社勤務を経てシカゴ大学より博士号を取得し、慶應義塾大学大学院経営管理研究科（ビジネススクール）教員になる。2025年に名古屋商科大学客員教授、2026年から名古屋商科大学教授。
専門は、経済学、経営学、リスクマネジメント、イノベーション。医療経済学会発起人。政府の研究プロジェクトでは、SIP第2期課題「国家レジリエンス（防災・減災）の強化」評価委員長、SIP第3期課題「スマート防災ネットワークの構築」ピアレビュー委員長。
イノベーションとリスクマネジメントを研究しています。どちらも想定外の事象を扱うのでモデル化しにくいですが、それだけに挑戦意欲が湧きます。スポーツに例えるとイノベーションは攻め、リスクマネジメントは守りに似ています。対照的な部分もありますが、共通点を押さえた人はオールラウンダーになれます。共通点は、1つの技術や知識を多くの用途に応用することと、1つの仕事を複数の方法で達成できるようにすることです。

Ph.D. (Public Policy, University of Chicago). After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University and working at Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Obayashi earned his doctorate from the University of Chicago and became a faculty member at the Keio Business School. Obayashi served as a visiting professor at NUCB and is a professor at NUCB from 2026.
Obayashi’s specialties include economics, management, risk management, and innovation. A founding member of Japan Health Economics Association. In government research projects, he has served as the Chair of the Evaluation Committee for the 2nd phase of the SIP program on 'Enhancement of National Resilience against Natural Disasters,' and as the Chair of the Peer Review Committee for the 3rd phase of the SIP program on 'Development of a Resilient Smart Network System against Natural Disasters.'
Obayashi studies innovation and risk management. Both deal with unexpected events, which makes them difficult to model, but that challenge is so compelling. To compare them to sports, innovation is like offense, while risk management is like defense. They may seem like opposites, but those who understand the common ground between them can become well-rounded players. The common ground lies in the ability to apply a single skill or piece of knowledge to various situations, and in being able to achieve a single goal through multiple approaches.
