What is happening and what has happened across the globe affect the way we live today. This course, therefore, is intended to provide students with an opportunity to learn, think, and debate about various topics relating to the world which could be useful for the post-graduation careers.

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

The purpose of this course is NOT to learn basic terms and concepts taught in a "textbook" and remember them for exams. Rather, the goal here is to provide students with opportunities to obtain or improve an ability to analyze an event from different perspectives as well as an ability to construct and present own arguments through various topics relating to Japan and the world.

There is no required textbook for this course. Instead we focus on "cases" as our main readings, and students are expected to submit "assignments" as preparation reports. If needed, supplemental readings and information are listed in the cases or assignments.

It is recommended to utilize the Central Information Center (Library) for preparing for class and homework.
