This course builds on the INTRODUCTORY JAPANESE course to further help students develop the core Japanese language skills. By participating in class activities, students will have not only knowledge of the Japanese language and Japan but also develop a global perspective and the ability to contribute to the development of the business world and society.
授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
This course provides students with further opportunities to learn the Japanese language to achieve the CEFR A2 level at the JLPT N4. This course has a special focus on developing their reading and speaking using post elementary Japanese skills and approximately 800 and more kanjis.
到達目標 / Achievement Goal
Students will be able to (1) expand their daily communication skills in both spoken and written Japanese, and (2) acquire many functional competences through comprehending and writing texts composed of their learned knowledge.

・Pre-Course Learning: Students will be expected to spend 3 hours a week to understand the new vocabulary in each unit in advance.
・Post-Course Learning: Students will be expected to spend 3 hours a week to practice the content learned in class and write compositions.
・Feedback: Ongoing feedback will be given during class activities and assignments.
・Course Approach: This course will be guided by lectures. Active learning tasks making use of pair work and group discussions will occur throughout the term.
・Student are encouraged to use the Central Information Center (Library).
