1. Finding your own Life Purpose - the 5Ps of Life. Before leading others, it is important to find out where you want to go in life.
2. Understanding Leadership Principles: 5 Principles of Leadership according to Kouzes and Posner.
3. Understanding how to develop your own Leadership Style

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

The basic Framework of Leadership (The Leadership Challenge) will be used in class. Transformational leaders must build a meaningful vision and also need to learn how to work effectively in an organization. Modeling the Way, Inspiring a Vision, Challenging the Process, Enabling Others to Act, and finally Inspiring the Heart are pillars of leadership behavior that we will study in this class.

This course is taught by the case method, which allows students to develop problem solving and problem-finding skills through reliving the management case examples and real events in existing companies from their own perspectives. The group will also have group activities and chances for students to learn about their leadership and personality styles.

40% Class Participation (Class Contribution): please make sure to speak at least once during each class session.
45% Life Purpose Project (Simulation): my hope is that this will be the most meaningful paper you do during your Undergraduate years. Ted will help you during class and through your life on your purpose as well.
15% Final Day Presentation (Final Report): there is only a very short 7-minute presentation 3-minute Q&A for each student.

Group Project:
Deadline: Uploaded two days prior to the last class.

Professor: Ted Katagi
Language: English
Ted is currently CEO of Kenja Corporation, a B2B Cloud Collaboration platform company selling to Enterprise Customers. He was also Head of Private Equity Asia for Fidelity Investments, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Japan and Verizon Wireless (west), and Global Head of Commercial Strategy for Vodafone. Ted also worked at IBM and Bain and Company and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School as well as Computer Science and Economics degrees from UC Berkeley.
