This course aims to provide participants with a critical understanding of contemporary knowledge- and innovation-driven enterprises, fostering a "frontier spirit" that empowers them to proactively enhance both the knowledge foundation and innovation capacity of businesses and society as a whole.
授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
Participation in this course will ignite participants' interest and focus on knowledge management (KM) initiatives within business organizations. Participations will delve into knowledge acquisition and creation, alongside its internal dissemination. They will assess the role of information technology (IT) in KM, evaluating whether it serves as a beneficial tool or an undue fixation. Moreover, participants will explore knowledge retention and protection strategies, examining how organizations can safeguard and harness the value of their critical knowledge assets over time.

Participants are advised to allocate a minimum of 3 hours for preparation per case. The seven assigned cases collectively contain approximately 67 pages of main content.
A laptop computer is necessary for the electronic distribution of handouts during class sessions.
Participants will be required to complete a case exam on the final day of the course. Individual feedback on the case exam performance will be provided through an electronic feedback form.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
Dr. Law is an Associate Professor in the area of management at NUCB Business School. He gained his PhD from City University of Hong Kong. His primary research interests include knowledge management and human resource management. His work has appeared in renowned international journals such as European Management Journal, Human Resource Management Review, and Journal of Knowledge Management. Two of his research work won best-paper and research awards in 2013 and 2016 respectively. At his current university, Dr. Law received Teaching Awards for the academic years 2020/21 (Outstanding), 2021/22, and 2022/23 as well as Research Award for the academic year 2020/21.
(実務経験 Work experience)
Prior to joining NUCB, Dr Law worked at the Open University of Hong Kong, where he started his academic career and rose quickly from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer to Assistant Professor during his nine years of tenure. He has extensive experiences in delivering business management courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as supervising research and dissertations.
