This course aims to give students the opportunity to practice their speaking skills in English by promoting realistic use of the language through individual, pair, and small-group work.

Using task-oriented and problem-solving activities which simulate real-life situations to help develop fluency as well as to encourage the use of relevant vocabulary and idioms in context.

Ability to positively accept other opinions and cooperate for problem solving. New ideas and opinions will be encouraged through discussion. Students will become able to express their opinions accurately and positively and orally.

The course will be delivered in English and make use of a mixed format of lecture, tutorial, small-group and pair work for presentation and discussion.All chapters will be opened with a short passage or conversation that introduces the theme. Key vocabularies will then be introduced to make sure that the students have a basic understanding of the chapter’s content. Oral or written work will be done as a class, in pairs, or in small groups, to encourage the use of target structures and vocabularies. Summaries of grammatical structures covered in the chapter will be introduced, if necessary, to provide reference.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 


Chih Hao Chang completed his M.Sc. at The University of Edinburgh and his Doctoral (PhD) degree at Nagoya University. His main research centers on Sociology of Education. He has related interests in Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Second Language Acquisition (SLA), and Educational Policy Studies and Shadow Education.
