The main purpose of this course is to develop reading skills and acquire the academic word list. Students will gain the following
skills from the activities below.
.explicit reading skills provide the foundation for effective, critical thinking.
.high-interest readings from academic content areas motivate students.
.corpus-based examples from the Oxford English Corpus teach real-life English.

Reading comprehension, reading skill, vocabulary activities, writing and discussion topics will be used to evaluate students'
achievement. Reading assignment will be given before each class. During the class time students are encouraged and evaluated discussing the reading material. Students participation is vital in earning their mark for this course.
