Course Overview

Misson Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement

This course is a pedagogical subject, and thus, it will not be directly related to the mission of the university. However, it will foster LG-1 (critical thinking) and LG-4 (communication), which are elements for achieving the mission. Pedagogy has so far been considered how to teach from experiences of instructors'; however, this course focuses on neuroscientific aspects of learning beyond anecdotal theories. In terms of advancing education in an innovative way, this course coincides with the mission statement of NUCB as well. As noted in relation to the NUCB statement, this course aims to examine educational methodologies and methods from a neuroscientific perspective. Students will acquire knowledge about how human beings learn from biological perspectives.

Importance of this course

In this course, students will be able to learn about the essential pedagogical theme of "How should we teach?" from the perspective of brain science and biology, with the fundamental research question of "How do people learn?

Achievement Goal

Through realistic cases and discussions that may occur in educational settings, students are expect to learn about teaching/pedagogical methods and techniques, as well as improve their critical thinking and communication skills.
