授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
SEMINAR 1 is the first course of the sequence (SEMINAR 1-6). Through the courses, students will develop the necessary research skills to conduct a project leading to the production of a 4,000 word thesis in English. The aim of SEMINAR 1 is to guide students to choose an appropriate research topic, helping them identify their interests and narrow down their ideas to a research topic. Students will also learn academic writing skills through in-class activities and assignments to prepare for writing a thesis introduction in SEMINAR 2.

This course will be taught using lecture, group discussion and presentations. To be successful in class, students need to spend time on required assignments and come to class well prepared. Oral and written feedback will be provided for each assignment in class.
