授業の概要　Course Overview

本学のミッションステートメントが目指す人材は、多様性を前提としたグローバル化社会で生き抜く人材である。本科目は、グローバル化社会において避けることにできない文化や価値観の異なる世界を内側から知り、異文化理解を促すことを目的とする。
This course intends to develop the ability to understand cultures and values different from oneself internally and accept diversity in a globalized society. This ability is essential for the global leaders that the NUCB　mission envisions.

授業の目的（意義） / Importance of this course

本講義では、中東地域における政治、文化、社会を学ぶ。中東諸国は、石油や天然ガスなど豊富な資源を理由にビジネス界から注目される一方、独裁的な政治指導者の台頭、それに対する抗議デモ、内戦の発生など不安定な情勢でも知られている。受講生は、中東諸国でこれまでどのような政治対立が生じてきたのか、それはなぜか、地域特有の政治、社会、文化的背景から理解することを目的とする。
In this course, students will study politics, culture, and society in the Middle East. While Middle Eastern countries are attracting attention from the business sectors for their abundant natural resources such as oil and natural gas, they are also known for their unstable situations, including the rise of autocratic political leaders, protests against them, and civil wars. In this course, students will understand the political conflicts that have emerged in Middle Eastern countries and consider the reasons, in the context of the regional-specific political, social, and cultural backgrounds.

到達目標 / Achievement Goal

受講生は、中東地域で過去に生じた政治的対立を少なくとも三つ取り上げ、それらの原因について、地域特有の要因と、政治学の基礎的なキーワードを用いて説明できる。

Students will be able to identify at least three political conflicts that have occurred in the Middle East region in the past and explain their causes using region-specific factors and basic political science keywords.

＜学習方法＞
・予習：授業前日までにレジュメをGoogle classroomにアップロードするので、受講生は自らダウンロードし予習に役立てる。
・復習：レジュメの最後に復習問題を記載するので、小テストに向けて復習問題を中心に勉強することを推奨する。それぞれ100分を目安とする。
＜予習レポート＞
・毎回全員要提出。授業前に予習レポート課題をGoogle classroomで作成する。Google classroom経由で予習レポートを各授業日の前日までに提出すること。
＜中央情報センターの活用＞
中東に関する知識や理解は、新聞、雑誌、インターネット、映画などまざまざなメディアを使って深めることができる。情報センターでこれらを積極的に活用してほしい。

・本講義のねらい、概要、成績評価方法を説明する。
【中東の歴史①】
・中東におけるナショナリズムと国家建設の関係について理解する。

第2日（Day2）

【中東の歴史②】
・イスラエル・パレスチナ問題とは何か、歴史的起源について学ぶ。
・小テスト①

第3日（Day3）

【中東諸国の政治体制】
・なぜ中東諸国には権威主義体制が存続するのか、どのような場合に権威主義体制は崩壊するのか、考察を加える。

アラブの春

第4日（Day4）

【中東における宗教】
・中東諸国における宗教の政治の関係とは何か。宗教は中東の国家建設にどのような役割を果たしたのか。宗教勢力がなぜ政治的な権力を持つようになるのか。これらの問いについて考察する。

第5日（Day5）

【中東における内戦】
・中東諸国で歴史的に発生してきた（現在進行形で発生している）内戦について理解し、その要因を考察する。

※東大作著『内戦と和平』（2020）中公新書、第４章の内容を一部抜粋、要約して講師が作成したオリジナルケース。変更可能性あり。

第6日（Day6）

【中東の社会とジェンダー】
・イスラームにおける女性の教育、就労、結婚について考える。
・小テスト⑤

中東の国際関係
・中東諸国と欧米諸国はなぜ対立する場合があるのか、その背景について考察する。
