授業の概要 Course Overview

This course directly aligns with NUCB's mission statement to “educate innovative and ethical leaders who possess a ‘Frontier Spiritʼ and to create knowledge that advances business and society." Students will practice "bridging the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world” by applying their critical thinking skills and contributing to the ongoing academic dialogue inherent in the speakers’ work. The importance of idea and research theme will be a central focus of class discussion and student presentations.
This course focuses on understanding and using listening skills and vocabulary to understand a TED Talk.
Assignments and tasks will focus on developing note-taking and academic listening skills to improve students’ awareness and confidence.

Business Listening is intended for intermediate students who have studied English previously and need further practice to improve their listening skills. This content-based course uses business-related TED Talks to introduce case studies from different business contexts while integrating academic listening components into lessons.
Students will also develop weekly skills to improve their academic listening and note-taking skills using practical exercises that help students to develop their knowledge of listening. Students will also practice discussing the business-related themes through communication tasks based on various business situations.
Activities will be repeated and presented in individual and pair work formats. Homework and individual study components provide students with active learning opportunities throughout the course.
