授業の概要 Course Overview

This course will focus on Business English reading and listening skills to foster students with, a 'frontier spirit', a global perspective, and the ability to contribute to the business world in which English is considered as a language for business communication.
To improve students' business English reading and listening skills, this course primarily focuses on the TOEIC test (which is based on Business English). Students will learn the foundation to learn the English language and productive and receptive skills in preparation to achieve the CEFR B1 level (550-780) at the TOEIC® Listening and Reading score. Students will also learn TOEIC test strategies alongside general English skills; English skills will include speaking, listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary.
The aim of this course is to prepare students for the TOEIC tests in June, September, and December.
The final goal of this course is English communication skills and knowledge equivalent to a TOEIC score of minimum 600 points.

This course will be guided by a lecture, which will be supported by independent study completed by the students outside of class.

50% of the grades for this course will be made up of Unit TOEIC tests. These tests occur in weeks 4 and 7.

Participant-Centered Learning (PCL) will be incorporated. The independent study outside of class will help prepare students for task-based application within the class and will include written as well as online homework tasks. This should take at least two hours after class each week.

The instructor will give feedback to in-class activities and tests during class and during office hours upon request.

Students are strongly encouraged to use the resources available in the Information Center when they prepare for and review the content of classes.
