Course Overview

Misson Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement

Students learn how to analyze data in this course where they study one of the most popular data analysis methods, i.e., regression analysis. In this era of data, the knowledge obtained in this course will be useful
to students in the years to come in school as well as in the business world after graduation. As a result, it will lead to create knowledge beneficial to the business and society.

Importance of this course

Data Analysis is a subject to study data related to economy and business as well as many other areas. It is important to study not only theories but also the reality in almost every field including economics and business, which is a current trend observed in the world. Since data reflect the realty, analyzing data via data analysis has been quite important in economics and business. For NUCB students, I recommend to use data analysis of economic and/or business data in your graduation thesis, which is sensible to do. In this course you will learn how to analyze economic and business data using a data analysis function of Excel, which is quite popular in the world. In my course I mainly focus on regression analysis, which is the most important tool concerning applications. I hope you can somehow get an ability to survive in this competitive and global world by taking this course.
About the course
1)Significance: Data Analysis, a tool to analyze the reality, has become more and more important.
2)Background: How to deal with data reflecting the reality has become important in many areas.
3)Contents: You will learn how to analyze economic and/or business data with a data analysis function in Excel.
4)Importance: It is useful to learn how to analyze data with Excel.
In this course, we will conduct class discussions using case studies in order to achieve the learning goals. The students attending this course may be required to prepare for questions and to participate in class discussions.

Achievement Goal

Students who learned this course are able to analyze data using Excel. More specifically, they know how to deal with data for one variable using a data analysis function of basic statistics for one variable as well as data for multi-variables such as correlation analysis and regression analysis using a data analysis function of correlation and regression.
