授業の概要 Course Overview


Critical Thinking 1 is a seminar course based on the university's educational policy of “Shitei-Doko/Dogyo (teacher and student studying together)”. Through active learning, this seminar aims to help students acquire the practical thinking skills, initiative, and advanced communication skills that are essential for them to become leaders and entrepreneurs who are equipped to contribute to the business world with a global perspective and the university’s founding motto of “Frontier Spirit”.
The significance of this seminar is that it provides students with the opportunity to make a plan for their future goals and think about what they should do to achieve them during their university life at the beginning of their four-year studies at NUCB. In recent years, the job hunting situation has become even more competitive, and it is extremely important to make an action plan for the future in the first year seminar and to have a fulfilling academic life throughout the four years. In this seminar, students will deepen their understanding of our university's founding spirit and educational policy and learn how to write essays, make presentations and do group work as well as the basics of case method education, which is the distinctive feature of our education. Through these learning experiences, students acquire basic academic skills and develop their initiative to be actively involved in a variety of activities.

Active learning at NUCB refers to an output-based learning style that utilizes group study and discussion rather than an input-based learning style where knowledge is crammed into students in a one-way class. By discussing how to deal with issues based on various teaching materials, students can have meaningful learning experiences such as realizing different perspectives and ways of thinking that they would not have thought of on their own.
Upon successful completion of this seminar, students will be able to:
-Explain what active learning is
-Engage in independent study
-Think independently and discover problems in response to various issues
-Express their ideas logically
