This course will focus on Business English reading and listening skills to foster students with, a 'frontier spirit', a global perspective, and the ability to contribute to the business world in which English is considered as a language for business communication.
授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
To improve students' business English reading and listening skills, this course primarily focuses on the TOEIC test (which is based on Business English). Students will learn the foundation to learn the English language and productive and receptive skills in preparation to achieve the CEFR B1 level (550-780) at the TOEIC® Listening and Reading score. Students will also learn TOEIC test strategies alongside general English skills; English skills will include speaking, listening, reading, grammar and vocabulary.

The final goal of this course is English communication skills and knowledge equivalent to a TOEIC score of minimum 700 points.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
Sugene Kim is an associate professor of English at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business. (The name "Sugene" is pronounced as "スジイン.") She holds a master’s degree in professional English writing and a doctorate in applied linguistics from Ewha Womans University. Her research focuses on academic writing, second language (L2) acquisition, and morphosyntax within the framework of pedagogical grammar. She is particularly interested in examining the cognitive and linguistic strategies utilized by adult L2 learners to address writing difficulties in different rhetorical contexts. Her related research interests include sociolinguistic variation and World Englishes.
