The present course is the first in a four-term course offered to 1st year students in the Faculty of Global Studies. The course will equip the students with essential English communication skills and global competences as stated in the mission of the University, such as "frontier spirit" and professional abilities necessary to bridge the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world. The students will learn relevant business English vocabulary as well as communication strategies, which will enable them to successfully navigate the complex world of global business.

The aim of this course is to prepare the students for the TOEIC tests in June, September, and December.
The final goal of this course is English communication skills and knowledge equivalent to a TOEIC score of minimum 500 points.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
Sugene Kim is an associate professor of English at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business. (The name "Sugene" is pronounced as "スジイン.") She holds a master’s degree in professional English writing and a doctorate in applied linguistics from Ewha Womans University. Her research focuses on academic writing, second language (L2) acquisition, and morphosyntax within the framework of pedagogical grammar. She is particularly interested in examining the cognitive and linguistic strategies utilized by adult L2 learners to address writing difficulties in different rhetorical contexts. Her related research interests include sociolinguistic variation and World Englishes.
