The present course is the third of a four-term series offered to first-year students in the Faculty of International Studies. It focuses on developing Business English reading and listening skills, aiming to cultivate students with a 'frontier spirit,' global perspective, and the ability to contribute to the international business world where English serves as the primary language for business communication.

The aim of this course is to prepare students for the TOEIC tests in May and November.
The ultimate goal of this course is to develop English communication skills and knowledge equivalent to a minimum TOEIC score of 500 points.

Students who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement (11 classes) will receive an "Incomplete" (不完全履修) grade
Late assignments will be penalized with a 10% grade reduction per day
Make-up tests will only be given in cases of documented illness or emergency
Active participation in group work and case study discussions is essential for achieving a high class contribution score
Final grades will be determined based on the total points accumulated across all assessment categories

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
名古屋大学大学院文学研究科人文学専攻博士後期課程にて博士(文学)を取得。愛知淑徳大学文学部助教を経て、現在名古屋商科大学国際学部専任講師。英語学を専門としており、統語論ならびに英語史の研究を行う。
Siyang Xia obtained his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University. After working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Aichi Shukutoku University, he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of International Studies, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He specializes in English Linguistics and conducts research in syntax and historical linguistics.
