Writing is a powerful tool for creating knowledge and expressing ideas, and by improving their writing skills, students can effectively communicate their ideas and contribute to advancing business and society.

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

This course is designed to help students improve their writing skills in English. Through a variety of writing assignments, students will learn how to write clearly, cohesively, and persuasively.

到達目標 / Achievement Goal


This course will develop proficiency in various types of writing and help students develop critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources. Students will also learn to effectively use grammar and syntax to convey their ideas, as well as to organize their writing in a logical and coherent manner. This course will provide students with the opportunity to receive feedback and revise their writing.

This course will be guided by a lecture, which will be supported by independent study completed by the students outside of class. After-class individual and group work is also encouraged to take place in the library.
Feedback will be provided on homework assignments, in-class participation, quizzes in the class.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 

名古屋大学大学院文学研究科人文学専攻博士後期課程にて博士(文学)を取得。愛知淑徳大学文学部助教を経て、現在名古屋商科大学経済学部専任講師。英語学を専門としており、統語論ならびに英語史の研究を行う。

Siyang Xia obtained his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University. After working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Aichi Shukutoku University, he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He specializes in English Linguistics and conducts research in syntax and historical linguistics.
