This course will improve students' English reading and comprehension skills. Through reading classes, students can improve their reading speed and comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and learn new grammar and language structures.

This course will help students improve their English abilities, expand their knowledge, and develop their communication skills. Students can learn the basic elements of English writing, such as grammar and punctuation, and enhance their writing abilities. Reading different texts can help students understand and communicate with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, which is important for their future career and life.

This course will be guided by a lecture, which will be supported by independent study completed by the students outside of class. It is recommended to preview new vocabulary and reading passages before class. After-class individual and group work is also encouraged to take place in the library.
Feedback will be provided on homework assignments, in-class participation, quizzes in the class.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 

名古屋大学大学院文学研究科人文学専攻博士後期課程にて博士(文学)を取得。愛知淑徳大学文学部助教を経て、現在名古屋商科大学経済学部専任講師。英語学を専門としており、統語論ならびに英語史の研究を行う。

Siyang Xia obtained his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University. After working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Aichi Shukutoku University, he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He specializes in English Linguistics and conducts research in syntax and historical linguistics.
