授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

This course help students develop the language skills necessary to communicate with colleagues, clients, and partners from around the world, as well as to access and use the vast amounts of information available in English. By practicing these skills in English, students can learn to communicate more clearly and effectively, build stronger relationships, and work more collaboratively with others. These skills can be particularly valuable for leaders in business and society, who must navigate complex and rapidly changing environments, build consensus, and inspire others to action.

This course will be guided by a lecture, which will be supported by independent study completed by the students outside of class. After-class individual and group work is also encouraged to take place in the library.

Starting from the second week, there will be a vocabulary test at the beginning of each class, so those who arrive late will miss the test and their grades will be affected.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 

名古屋大学大学院文学研究科人文学専攻博士後期課程にて博士(文学)を取得。愛知淑徳大学文学部助教を経て、現在名古屋商科大学経済学部専任講師。英語学を専門としており、統語論ならびに英語史の研究を行う。

Siyang Xia obtained his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University. After working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Aichi Shukutoku University, he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He specializes in English Linguistics and conducts research in syntax and historical linguistics.
