This course introduces English literature through J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. Students will analyze the novels, exploring their themes, characters, and literary techniques while examining their historical and cultural context. The course also considers Rowling's background and literary influences. Through discussions, written assignments, and presentations, students will develop skills in close reading, critical analysis, and effective communication.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
名古屋大学大学院文学研究科人文学専攻博士後期課程にて博士(文学)を取得。愛知淑徳大学文学部助教を経て、現在名古屋商科大学国際学部専任講師。英語学を専門としており、統語論ならびに英語史の研究を行う。
Siyang Xia obtained his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University. After working as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Letters, Aichi Shukutoku University, he is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of International Studies, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business. He specializes in English Linguistics and conducts research in syntax and historical linguistics.
