This course is essential in helping students build the skills and confidence needed to become effective business presenters. Engaging delivery and ethical persuasion, students are trained how to craft successful presentations using real-world data and examples. These abilities are key to succeeding in today’s dynamic and globally connected business environment.

This course aims to empower students in order to make a good business presentation in English.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Give clear, engaging, and persuasive business presentations with ethical reasoning, cultural awareness,
- Develop the confidence and communication skills necessary to lead effectively in international business settings,
- Contribute to NUCB’s vision of fostering innovative and globally minded leaders who can bridge New Asia with the wider world.

This course adopts a participant-centered approach. Students will make use of self- and peer-evaluation in terms of feedback with an emphasis on seeing, reflecting, and improving upon certain aspects of the presentation skills.

第1日(Day1)

Orientation
- Introduction to Business Presentations
- Topic: The Basics – Purpose, Audience, Structure
- Mini-lecture on the “Golden Triangle” (Introduction – Body – Conclusion)
Activities:
Icebreaker: “The Elevator Pitch” – Students introduce themselves in 30 seconds

This course uses a participant-centered approach. It encourages students to give and receive feedback through self- and peer-evaluations, with a focus on observing, reflecting, and continuously improving their presentation skills.

Chapter 1 of the Coursebook- Understanding the audience’s needs and expectations

Presenting in English + prepare a 1-minute self-intro

Group Task: Create a simple product intro (3-slide deck)

第3日(Day3)

Structure and Organization of Business Presentation
Topic: Building Logical Flow
Activities:
Jigsaw Reading: Different ways to organize presentations (Chronological, Problem-Solution, etc.)
Peer Evaluation: Groups critique example speeches using a checklist
Interactive Game: “Presentation Jeopardy” (with categories like Transitions, Openings, Closings)

Homework: Prepare a 2-minute presentation on a business trend

Chapter 2 of the Coursebook- How to personalize yourself as a professional presenter

Visual Aids and Slide Design
Topic: Designing Impactful Slides
Activities:
Workshop: Students redesign poorly made slides
Activity: “PechaKucha Challenge” – 20 slides x 20 seconds
Tutorial or PowerPoint tips for beginners

Homework: Design slides for a short business proposal presentation

Body Language and Vocal Delivery
Topic: Non-verbal Communication in Presenting
Activities:
Video Critique: Watch and analyze a TED Talk focusing on gestures and voice
Role-play: Present without voice (only gestures), then vice versa
Mirror Practice: Pair activity for eye contact and posture

Homework: Practice and record a 2-minute video for self-review

Chapter 3 of the Coursebook- Key techniques to capture the audience’s attention, expectations, and tone.

Persuasion and Storytelling in Business
Topic: Making Presentations Memorable
Activities:
Workshop: Building a persuasive pitch using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence
Story Circle: Each student shares a business-related personal story
Pitch Battle: Compete in persuasive 1-minute sales pitches

Homework: Prepare for next week’s major group presentation

第7日(Day7)

Term Project: Group Business Presentation
Topic: Group Business Pitch – Presentation Day
Activities:
Group Presentations (5–7 minutes per group)
Peer & Instructor Feedback: Use rubrics (Structure, Language, Visuals, Delivery)
Post-Presentation Reflection Discussion
Debrief: Strengths & areas for improvement

Homework: Final Reflection Essay (What I learned + goals moving forward)
