During the course, I will guide the students through the textbook so that they can have a better understanding of English grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and pronunciation. Each class, except for the first and the last class, will involve a vocabulary quiz covering the English words taught in the previous class. The case method will also be employed.

The students are required to conduct self-access learning once per week at the Nisshin campus library, 100 minutes per week, which will amount to 20% of the grade.
Simuilation refers to the TOEIC to be conducted within the term.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 


Ian Joo is a South Korean linguist specializing in linguistic typology. He obtained his BA in French literature at Université Laval (Canada) and MA in linguistics at National Chiao Tung University (Taiwan). He expects to obtain his PhD in linguistics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Hong Kong) in early 2024.
