授業の概要 Course Overview
Mission Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement
This course supports NUCB Business School’s mission of developing innovative and ethical leaders with ‘Frontier Spirits’ by engaging students in the preparation of a business case and an analytical note that reflect critical thinking, sensitivity to diversity, ethical reasoning, effective communication, innovative leadership, and a global outlook.
授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
All NUCB Business School students enrolled in the Global Leader Program are required to submit a business case accompanied by an insight note as a degree requirement. The primary objective of the Case Writing course is to support students in successfully fulfilling this requirement. Each case study should present a real situation from the perspective of a selected organization, while also reflecting the student’s analytical viewpoint. It should clearly articulate the challenges, issues, or opportunities faced by the key decision-maker(s), referred to as the case protagonist, and present a factual and coherent narrative of the situation.
The accompanying insight note should include a case synopsis, clearly defined learning objectives, and discussion questions. Most importantly, it should provide the analytical framework and strategic responses to these questions, grounded in relevant theory and articulated through the student’s own perspective. The insight note should be developed to a standard that would allow it to function as a teaching note if the case were used as instructional material in a classroom setting.
The seminar instructor serves as the Case Advisor, with primary responsibility for guiding students in the development of an original case and its corresponding insight note. Through seminars and during the submission process, the Case Advisor provides structured feedback and identifies areas for improvement. The Case Advisor also participates as a panel member in both the midterm and final presentations. While the Case Advisor remains the principal seminar instructor, students are expected to engage actively by offering constructive secondary feedback to their peers, drawing on their own academic and professional backgrounds.
