授業の概要 Course Overview

Misson Statementとの関係性 / Connection to our Mission Statement

Mission Statement of NUCB Business School:
Our mission is to educate innovative and ethical leaders who possess a 'Frontier Spirit' and to create knowledge that advances business and society. Our students will have the ability to bridge the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world.

The course would enable students to gain the ability to write a business case for in depth discussion from their research effort as a display of "frontier spirit" .

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

Students will need to fulfill the requirements of completing their business case and insight notes through this course. The case study should reflect any chosen organization’s perspective as well as their own, showing the challenges/issues/opportunities faced by decision-maker(s) (also known as the case protagonist) while laying out a factual story about the situation. Insight note will include the case synopsis, its learning objectives, as well as the case questions, and most importantly, the framework and strategic solutions to these questions through the student’s unique perspective while being based on the underlying theory. Ultimately, the insight note should be able to serve as a teaching note if this case was to be used as a teaching material by an instructor in a class.

Seminar instructors will play the role of Case Advisors, whose main responsibility will be to teach the students on how to develop a full original case with the insight note. Throughout the seminars and upon submission, the Case Advisor will give feedback as to what kind of improvements can be carried out and will be also part of the panel for both midterm and final presentations. While the Case Advisor would remain the primary seminar instructor, all students will be required to participate actively by giving secondary advice based on their own expertise and background.

授業調査に対するコメント Comment on Course Evaluation

Grades of final case writing are assigned as: A, B, C, D, or F
- A, B, or C are given for passing grades, while D and F are given for failing grades
- D means that, after a student works more to improve the current case, he/she can retry to present it in the next term
- F means that a student has to restart the whole project from scratch
