授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
The Case Study Course is putting the capstone to your MBA. In your Case, Students will demonstrate their mastery of MBA concepts by applying them to writing and then providing the insights into the case.
You will choose a Business Situation based on your interests and then write a Case Study on it. Just like any case, it will disclose only the background of the situation and the facts around the situation. The case impartially shows data without providing the answers directly.
In the Insight Note, each student will now be able to completely demonstrate and have the knowledge in understanding every important angle of the Case at hand. In writing the answers, you will come to appreciate how preparation and analysis can be used to drive further insights into each case.

The case should be created to be of value to the overall Business Community. Does the case push the boundaries of knowledge? Does the case cover an industry, geography, or situation that is unique and noteworthy?
The Insight Note
Student’s will be let in on the inside as they now think about the case from the professor’s point of view. What are the Key Learning Objectives? How will you suggest the student structure the class discussion time?
The majority of the Insight Note will be answering the key questions posed in the case. The best Insight Note will have the comments of an A+ student inserted through the note. Organize the facts presented in the case to present a clear story that educates while also providing an interesting storyline for the target students to enjoy.

This course is through seminar discussion among students. Each student will have the chance to discuss their case before the whole class and learn not just from the professor, but from other students and self-reflection. I expect students to take advice given and apply it to your case and insight note. I will ask for rewrites as required so please review it earlier (I have asked for rewrites after the dissertation before)

This is my fourth time teaching this course. Evaluations have been very high based on engagement, practical knowledge of the Professor, and topics covered, and keeping students on schedule.

Professor: Ted Katagi
Language: English
Ted is currently CEO of Kenja Corporation, a B2B Cloud Collaboration platform company selling to Enterprise Customers. He was also Head of Private Equity Asia for Fidelity Investments, Chief Marketing Officer of Vodafone Japan and Verizon Wireless (west), and Global Head of Commercial Strategy for Vodafone. Ted also worked at IBM and Bain and Company and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School as well as Computer Science and Economics degrees from UC Berkeley.
