授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course
This Elementary Japanese Ⅰ course is designed for the beginning students who have little or
no knowledge of the Japanese language. The course will emphasize basic Japanese
grammar and coversational skills by using a variety of techniques: working in pairs, role
playing and interviewing so that students can better navigate in Japan. Hiragana, Katakana
and some Kanji(Chinese characters) will be briefly introduced.

This course is taught by the method of interactive activity such as working in pairs, role playing and

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor
After graduating with BA in Education from the University, Ms Yamamoto taught Japanese language and culture at the University of British Columbia Bilingual Summer School, Kelowna Secondary School and Vernon Secondary School as a T.A. After her return, she taught Japanese to foreign students at Chubu University as an instructor. From 2004 to 2006 she majored in International Communication at the Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University. She has conducted research into Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language and Intercultual Communications in Japan.
Since she finished M.A, she has taught Japanese to foreign students from all over the world at NUCB Graduate School and Nanzan University.
