フロンティアスピリットを通じて世界的なビジネスで成功する素養のあるリーダーを育て、イノベーションと高い倫理的基準を経営慣行にもたらすが本学のミッション(の一部)である。本講義により、様々なケースを通じて、あらゆる組織で分析に基づき、改善または革新をもたらすリーダーとなる準備ができる。
It is (part of) the mission of the University to develop qualified leaders who, through a ‘Frontier Spirit’, are equipped to succeed in the globalized business and to bring innovation and high ethical standards to their management practices. This lecture, through various cases, prepares you to become a leader who brings about innovation to any organization based on the analysis.

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

リーダーシップとは、自分の属している社会や組織や企業のために、自らのイニシアチブで何らかの良い変化をもたらすことである。
リーダーシップ論についてのこれまでの議論を整理したのち、現実の場において、リーダーシップを考え、あなたが社会、組織、企業のために何ができるかを探求し、あなたが何になれるかを考える。
Leadership is to make a positive change by your initiative for the society, organization, or company to which you belong.
After summarizing the previous discussions on leadership theories, consider leadership in real-life situations, where it is needed, explore what you can do for society, organization, and company, and think what you can become.

リーダーシップと経営戦略について考える。卓越したリーダーによってすべてがうまくいっていたと思われていたが、それが突然頓挫してしまう。何が起こったのか。
成功した企業の次の段階。日本の企業は1990年代の初期まで成功を収めるが、その後、多くが停滞する。その停滞の中で更なる飛躍に成功した企業とそうはできなかった企業がある。ここでリーダーシップはどのようにかかわっているのか。

まだ授業調査のコメントを受け取っていないが、学生諸君の反応は、分量が多すぎる、直接企業経営と関わらない題材も興味深いということだった。分量は前学期に比べて少し減らしている。

1974年東京大学農学部農業経済学科卒業後、経済企画庁(現内閣府)入庁。同庁国民生活局国民生活調査課長、調査局海外調査課長、財務省財務総合政策研究所次長、株式会社大和総研専務理事チーフエコノミスト、早稲田大学政治経済学術院教授、日本銀行政策委員会審議委員などを経る。
ハワイ大学経済学修士(1979年)、学習院大学経済学博士(2012年)

After graduating from the University of Tokyo in 1974, he joined the Economic Planning Agency of the Government of Japan. He received an M.A. in Economics from the University of Hawaii in 1979 and a Ph.D. from Gakushuin University in 2012. He worked as Director of the Overseas Research Division and Social Research Division, Economic Planning Agency; Vice President of the Policy Research Institute, Ministry of Finance; Chief Economist and Senior Managing Director of the Daiwa Institute of Research; Professor in the School of Political Science and Economics, Waseda University; and Member of the Policy Board, Bank of Japan.

He is the author of more than 60 books and many papers in refereed journals. Some books are academic, such as the Studies on the Showa Depression (with Kikuo Iwata, Former Vice Governor, Bank of Japan, and others), awarded the Nikkei Prize for Excellent Books in Economic Science; Theory and Empirical Studies on Prolonged Stagnation (with Koichi Hamada, Professor Emeritus of Yale University, and others); and The Showa Depression and Monetary Policy (co-author). Others are for general readership, such as Abenomics Evolves (co-author), Reflation Economics That Saved Japan, Basic Income, Why Are There Many Poor People in Japan, Principles of Japan (awarded the Ishibashi Tanzan Prize), Don’t Be Afraid of Population Declining Society (co-author), Why Is Deflation Scary?, Those Who Speak Strange Economics, and Japan’s Lost Decade.
