These leaders will have the ability to bridge the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world, and to bring innovation and high ethical standards to their management practices.
This course is designed to achieve the mission of NUCB Business School:

授業の目的(意義) / Importance of this course

本コースはHealthcare Management Programの一つの講義に位置付けられています。
This course is designed as one of Healthcare Management Program.
 However, the course is opened to every student working in other than so-called healthcare industry, who intends to deepen leaning in corporate management.
There exist many constraints to every corporate management. The most important role of general manager is to decide best under any changes of constraints. First of all, you have to understand constraints surrounding you. Second of all, you have to evaluate how your company is capable and flexible to environment change. Then you can successfully develop most suitable and executable strategy and management system.
Constraints are divided into PESTEL. PESTEL stands for Politics, Economy, Society, Technology, Environment and Legal. PESTEL differs in every industry and company. Strength of PESTEL defers as well.
This course focuses on pharmaceutical and medical industry, as one of extreme industries, which are affected highly by regulation and any other constraints, however, learning and discussion will be expanded into similar industries with heavy constraints.
Constraints like politics and regulation are not stable and are changing from time to time. Companies, which can cope with these changes, can make sustainable growth. At the same time, change of constrains, represented by deregulation, will give you new business opportunities. So, you can develop your management capability not only to cope with minus effects of constraints change but also to startup new business with new opportunities.

Following are important issues of this course.
1. The main objective of this course is for MBA or MBA candidate students to develop further way of strategic thinking and management, rather than to learn technical or industrial knowledge.
2. Quality of cases and discussion is emphasized. Students are required to have deep analysis and discussion with these cases.
3. Students will gain practical capabilities and experience in management with discussions. Lecture is most limited.
4. While focusing on pharmaceutical and medical industry, students can develop cross-industry management capability.
5. Students can create new values with diversity of students’ exiting class participation.

担当教員のプロフィール About the Instructor 

東京大学工学部卒業後、日商岩井株式会社入社。情報通信システム開発プロジェクトに従事。米国ハーバード大学経営大学院修士課程修了(MBA)。後、本社経営企画部にて全社経営戦略策定業務に従事、更に通信事業部ニューメディア課長として情報通信&マルチメディア分野の営業第一線で活躍。ニフティ株式会社にてインターネットビジネスの戦略的展開に従事した後、ソフトバンク株式会社入社。ジオシティーズ株式会社COO,カーポイント株式会社副社長として、インターネット事業立ち上げを指揮。その後プライスウォーターハウスクーパースコンサルタント株式会社ダイレクターとして情報通信・メディア・エンタテイメント企業の経営コンサルティング従事。サンケイリビング新聞の資本参加を得て女性市場向けのマーケティングサービスを提供する株式会社ライブリッジを起業。その後ITベンチャー株式会社テック・インデックス社長としてベンチャー最前線で活躍し、現在名古屋商科大学教授。直近11年間連続で学生講義評価NO1を賞するOutstanding Teaching Award受賞。

Yuji Nagasawa

MBA, Harvard Business School
BS in Electric Engineering, Tokyo University

After working 20 years for Nissho-Iwai Corporation, one of Japan’s largest trading houses, Mr. Nagasawa joined Softbank group and started up two IT venture companies, where he acted as COO. He moved to the position of head of the E-Business consulting unit at PricewaterhouseCoopers and performed extensive consulting work for major companies. Mr. Nagasawa founded his own consulting firm in 1992 and ran it as a founder for 4 years. In 1996, he decide to go back to venture management and was named active CEO of TechIndex, one of the most prominent venture companies in the Japanese mobile industry. Mr. Nagasawa joined the faculty of NUCB as a professor in 2011, and since then, has won the Outstanding Teaching Award for 11 straight years. Mr. Nagasawa is 70 years old with a wife and 2 children. He is very good at aerobics.
